Ogee Arches

Ogee windows and arches were introduced to European cities from the Middle East, via Venetian influences. In particular, the ogee appears in Europe as Gothic decorative elements of the 14th and 15th century.

The pictures below show examples of a three centred arch and a four centred arch, although a further 2 centres are required for the outer parts of the arch. A little geometry is required to locate these centres
